Jim has more than 27 years of public and private technology company investing and advisory expertise, as well as considerable experience in fund management. He co-founded VantagePoint in 1996 and was a founding Board member of New Energy Capital, a VantagePoint portfolio company. His experience has been concentrated on capital formation for a wide variety of industries, and he has provided a broad range of advisory assistance to leading private and public companies. Before VantagePoint, Jim was Senior Managing Director, Founder and Head of the Global Technology Group at Bear Stearns for eight years. Previously he had similar responsibilities at LF Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin, and he began his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs. He was also a Senior Consultant at SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute) for five years. He is Chairman of the Board of Advisors, Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Jim attended Williams College (BA) and the University of California, Berkeley (MPP, PhD).
