John Leggate
John joined VantagePoint as a Venture Partner in 2008 and has been a member of the CleanTech Advisory Council for the past three years. He was formerly the CIO (retired) of BP and a member of the BP Group Senior Leadership Team, where he was closely involved in the development of corporate policy on technology foresight, global environmental performance, and sustainability. He began his career with BP in 1979, and during the 1980-90s held posts of increasing responsibility in the management and operating of BP's North Sea oil and gas assets. In 1998, he was appointed President of BP's Azerbaijan International Operating Company and was tasked with managing BP's interests in the unfolding geopolitical and economic debate that centers on crude oil export routes from the Caspian Sea. John was honored as Commander, The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the Queen in her 2004 New Year's Honour List in recognition of outstanding contribution and leadership to the international digital technology agenda. John is a graduate of Glasgow University (BSc Engineering) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineering (London) and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (London).
