TargeGen is a drug discovery/development company which combines a focus on vascular biology with expertise in small molecule medicinal chemistry. TargeGen develops small-molecule multi target kinase inhibitors that act to reduce disease related vascular permeability changes and vascular proliferation. These fundamental processes are associated with a broad range of human diseases including heart attack, cancer and eye diseases (macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy). Vascular leakage, edema and the unwanted growth of new blood vessels are also associated with other major health problems including pleural effusions, arthritis, pulmonary edema, transplant ischemia, ARDS, brain inflammation, hypovolemia (acute blood loss) CNS disorders and other serious medical conditions. The Company’s lead compound, TG101348, a JAK2 inhibitor under development for treatment of patients with myeloproliferative disorders, is anticipated to enter clinical development in early 2008. In addition, TargeGen has a product candidate in preclinical development for the treatment of adult macular degeneration (AMD).
